If you've ever delved into my blog posts, you'll understand that painting isn't just a passion—it's my sanctuary. It's where I untangle the knots of life, where there's no hiding from the raw truth staring back at me from the canvas. On good days, I paint from a place of joy; on tough days, like the ones I've been facing lately, it becomes my refuge—a space to pour out all the emotions that threaten to overwhelm.
A month ago, we said goodbye to our beloved Millie, our faithful doggie companion of nearly 15 years. Her loss hit me harder than I could have imagined. Millie wasn't just a pet; she was my confidante, my rock through life's many twists and turns. Once again, my art came to the rescue, offering solace in the midst of grief. In the world of self-employment, there's no such thing as time off, even in the face of heartache. Yet, I consider myself fortunate that my work isn't a burden but a source of healing.
In the past month, every stroke of my brush has been infused with loss and love. Instead of succumbing to despair, I've chosen to let Millie's memory inspire my creations—to channel the beauty and pain of our shared journey into each piece.
They say grief is the price we pay for love, and as I navigate this sad time, I find solace in the knowledge that all the love doesn’t disappear, it can find a new direction and way of being in the world.
In loving memory of Millie x
